Welcome to the Brighton Textile Reuse Hub

The Brighton Textile Reuse Hub (TRH) is a dynamic and growing collaboration between Gladrags, Leftover Threads, and Smarter Uniforms.
Our shared goal is to promote and facilitate textile reuse, working towards a more sustainable future for our community.

In partnership with East Brighton Trust, the TRH aims to:

  • Increase the reuse and circulation of existing textiles in the local area.
  • Support individuals impacted by the rising cost of living, by encouraging the use of second-hand or repurposed clothing and providing assitance with repairs.
  • Raise awareness of the environmental impact of textile waste and the importance of sustainable practices.

Our Vision for the Next 12 Months

Over the coming year, we plan to connect with a network of like-minded organisations to:

  • Enhance textile reuse efforts across Brighton and Hove.
  • Share ideas, information, and resources to create a more sustainable community.
  • Promote each other’s events and initiatives focused on sustainability.
  • Foster connections and collaboration across the local area.

Collaborations and Upcoming Activities

Our collaboration is constantly evolving, and we’re excited about upcoming joint initiatives. Together, we’ve already exchanged textiles, resources, skills and ideas, boosting one another's activities and delivering joint events like:

Gladrags

Rehomed over 1800 items between January and September 2024 preventing just over 1 tonne of textile waste.

1 tonne of garments is donated to Gladrags annually, for hire and rehire, or to be rehomed.

Smarter Uniforms

Rehomed over 1350 items between January and September 2024 - that’s ¼  tonne of textile waste prevented. They have also saved families over £130k in uniform costs since they were established in 2017.

Lefovover Threads

Put over 600 garments back into circulation between January and September 2024 by upcycling or repairing them.
